It’s no surprise to anybody that government spending is out of control. Our national debt sits at record levels while millions more are spent every day. The US is undoubtedly the most wealthy country in the world, but that doesn’t mean we can spend with reckless abandon. This debt must be paid off one day and the children of today will be the ones responsible for the bills.
So what do you do when spending is out of control? You spend less obviously. Unfortunately, cuts often involve departments and branches of government that are crucial to our safety such as the Department of Defense. In this case, the defense budget appears to be disproportionately affected by cuts to spending.
